Camellia Trees

Dr. Powlin Manuel is retired as of 1/1/22.

Camellia Flower

Camellia flowers are now in bloom in the south – helping to break the winter gloom. Many distinctive varieties of camellia start to bloom at different months. Here is Camellia williamsi with its very attractive pollen. The pollen is too heavy to be air-born, hence does not cause any allergy symptom.

There are about 300  camellia species all over the world. The common variety is Camellia japonica of different colors and differing petal arrangements. The size of flowers also depending on the different species.

Camellias are grown commercially for using the leaves to make tea.
